Katie presumably grew up in the Charleston neighborhood of Boston, also where her brother was raised. Katherine is the younger sister of Chris Kreider.

She was also on the Aztec club team for eight years.
During her time at Hamilton, Katie played soccer and was a star athlete in numerous community service opportunities and competitions. And while in her freshman year, Katie started in 13 of 15 games. She finished the season with six goals and one assist.
The following season, Kreider started 14 of 16 games and went on to achieve a career-high six points during a 9-0 win over Suny Polytechnic. During that campaign, Katie scored a total of six goals in addition to five assists. During her junior year, the Groton School director managed to get herself on the list of the NESCAC Fall All-Academic Team.
As a senior, Katie played in 17 of 18 games starting in 12. She also made it to the NESCAC Fall All-Academic Team. Kreider’s sister completed her college soccer career with 15 goals and eight assists.
