Truly Young is a star kid famous as the daughter of Andre Romelle Young aka Dr. Dre. Her father is a successful rapper, record producer, and entrepreneur.
As the daughter of an inimitable music producer Dr. Dre and his wife, Nicole Young, Truly is a hip hop royalty. She, also a musician is one of Dre’s most recognizable family members. She consistently stuns on Instagram and seemingly is a star to watch out for in her own right.
And at any day Truly looks like she’s on the cusp of becoming a breakout star. So get to know her from now, her life as the celebrity kid of superwealthy & famous parents; read all about her personal as well as her professional pursuits.
How Truly Young Got Her Name?
Truly was born Aug. 8, 2001, in California. In an interview, she revealed it was her famous dad who gave her the name, “Truly,” as the CEO of Aftermaths Entertainment thought it was beautiful.
Her paternal grandfather, Theodore Young owned an amateur R&B group.
Truly Young Studies At A Prestigious University
The Gen-Z celebrity child, Young is a student at The University of Southern California. In May 2019, she got admission to USC’s coveted School of the Cinematic Arts.
The year she received admission into the University, her father caused quite a controversy. Truly’s father posted a photo revealing his daughter had been admitted to the University writing, “all on her own. No jail time!!!”
The founder of Beats Electronics was making reference to Lori Loughlin and Felicity Huffman who had the authorities detained in March 2019 for allegedly giving bribes to get their daughters into college.
However, later some reports emerged stating Dr. Dre, too along with fellow music mogul Jimmy Iovine, had donated $70 million to the school in 2013.
Dre later deleted his post about Loughlin.
Young Denied The Allegations
Truly, on the other hand, denied the accusations and said her famous father had always been ‘pushing me to go to USC.’
In an interview, she revealed her parents put up a condition where they needed her to maintain good grades, or she was to be cut off financially.
She apparently also isn’t getting any special treatment at USC. Andre, reportedly, was a “very, very strict parent,” to Truly and her siblings. He allegedly was also in every element of her life. The ex-president of Death Row Records homeschooled his daughter Truly in high school. She also earned excellent grades during those periods.
Truly Young Parents’ Relationship
Truly’s parents, Dr. Dre and Nicole married each other on May 25, 1996.
Her mother was the first one with whom the Grammy-winning rapper had walked down the aisle. Together, Dre and Nicole had two children, Truly and her brother, Truice.
Truly’s mother, Nicole, who is quite distant from sites like Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook, was previously in a marital relationship with an NBA player Sedale Threatt.
In June 2020, The Blast reported Truly’s mother Nicole filed for divorce from the music mogul after 24 years of marriage.
Soon after, the split turned messy with Dre accusing Nicole of stealing company money and the estranged wife also accusing the rapper of cheating.
In Dec 2021, Dr. Dre agreed to pay his ex-wife Nicola Young a whopping $100 million in their divorce settlement.
She Was Angry On 50 Cent Criticizing Her Mother
In Sep 2020, Truly hit back at 50 Cent to shreds on social media after he commented on her parent’s divorce.
Curtis James Jackson III had posted a screenshot of an article talking about Nicole’s $2 million a month support request in their divorce.
To this 50 mocked Nicole writing, “these bitches be crazy how do you even ask for 2 million a month”.
Responding to the In da Club singer’s comment about her mother, Truly from the other end wrote,
“The blatant misogyny and disrespect by ignorant men that is being shown are absolutely fucking disgusting and vile. Calling my mother, my dad’s wife, a bitch is unforgivable.”
She additionally mentioned how 50 Cent’s commenting about her parent’s divorce was rather his marketing scheme which she described as low-life and disgusting as he was.
Later, 50 Cent gave a short “LOL” response and didn’t push it beyond that.
She Has Multiple Siblings
Truly is the youngest of Dre’s nine kids, one of which has passed away. As mentioned, she has a brother, Truice. He was born in 1997.
In addition to her biological brother, Truly also has four half-siblings all from her father’s previous relationships though with different women.
Worth mentioning is her other half-brother, Andre Young who died in 2008. Andre passed away from an accidental overdose at age 20 in 2008, per People.
Who Are Truly Young Siblings?
The step-siblings who are alive are Curtis, La Tanya, and her lesser-known two sisters, and Marcel. Curtis is Dr. Dre’s first child, who the Compton singer had when he was just a teenager with then-girlfriend Cassandra Joy Greene.
He had La Tanya in 1983 with another girlfriend, Lisa Johnson. In addition to La Tanya, the Mechanic also had two more daughters with Johnson.
Dr. Dre., then had a son in 1988, Andre Young, with Jenita Porter, and another son, Marcel, with Michelle Toussaint in 1991. In addition, she also has a half-sister named Tyra Young.
She Is Also A Singer
Much like her father, Young is also in the music industry. She is quite outstanding for pairing her airy falsetto with raw emotion. The eighth child of Dre launched her own hit single in 2018 entitled, Lover Boy.
In an interview with Vogue in 2018, she listed Nirvana, Lana Del Rey, and The Cure as her biggest inspirations. Speaking about her career she told the magazine she said as an artist, she wants to be able to inspire young people to break away from societal standards.
Truly taught herself to play guitar when she was just 13 years old. With Vogue in 2017, Truly revealed,
“My parents offered to give me lessons, but I really wanted to learn myself.”
Similar to her father, she also turned one of her songs, LoverBoy into a short film that she made all on her own.
She Is Also A Painter
While she’s in music, Truly, apparently, is also into visual art — particularly, painting. Her Instagram page is full of her artistic works.
Truly lives in her own apartment in Los Angeles.
What Is Truly Young’s Net Worth?
While it is still too early to start assessing or even discussing Truly’s net worth considering her young age and her existing early musical phase. And it certainly won’t be fair to compare her in terms of financial gains especially to anywhere as near as her father, who has a breathtaking net worth of over $800 million.
The superproducer father of Young is still collecting compensation from his landmark Apple deal–along with income from his extensive back catalog. Not to forget, he has been the owner of a sprawling network of glitzy LA mansions for decades in addition to several properties across the states each worth in the region of seven figures.
Though, none of his kids has yet managed to step into the two-comma club including Truly herself. She, nonetheless, can admit – the financial problems shouldn’t be that much of a concern for her in light of her father’s close to a billion-dollar fortune.
Truly Young Does Have A Boyfriend
Nicole and Dre’s youngest child Truly has posted a few Instagram pictures of herself with her boyfriend, Aidan Korte. Some fans call him a lookalike of Eminem.
Truly hasn’t mentioned much about her boyfriend other than the fact he is a Texan.
The couple supposedly started dating in the fall of 2018 – in the October of that same year, she uploaded a picture of him on her Instagram (the first time).
And although she didn’t refer to him as her boyfriend right away, the red heart in the caption pretty much gave away that the guy was someone really special to her. Since then the young adult has been occasionally sharing pictures of herself and her alleged partner across all of her social media accounts.
She last posted his picture in Sep 2021.
