Disney’s Pirates Of The Caribbean is one of the most undecided projects of the studio and perhaps even of Hollywood. The billion-dollar series so far has released five films and ever since the last movie, Dead Men Tell No Tales, fans have been pondering heavily on the subject of the sixth film and the franchise’s overall future.
While Disney had announced Pirates of the Caribbean Part Six as a possibility way back in 2010, the franchise itself has gone through so many highs and lows that its destiny has been teetering on the brink of uncertainty since 2017. And the ambiguity is just piling up by the day.
Meanwhile, let’s discuss a step ahead of the current pressing issue; Pirates Of The Caribbean 7. While there definitely is unsureness for the sixth movie, a few or two discussions and buzzes regarding the farther future of the franchise might also be worth a look at.
Will There Be Pirates Of The Caribbean 7?
Hearsay, theories, and speculations have been increasing exponentially in the years since the franchise released its later films. The majority of them only talk about the upcoming sequels and whether or not Depp will reprise the iconic role.

Rumors have suggested that there will be at least one sequel adjacent to the so far story. This is actually coming from a random redditor who also claims The Pirates Of The Caribbean 6 will have writer Ted Elliott and Craig Mazin of the Chernobyl series. Reportedly the film will also have the Dead Men Tell No Tales director Joachim Ronning at the helm.
As for part seven, the possibility seems extremely bleak. While way too early projections have said that the franchise will continue, past this upcoming movie, a reboot or a spinoff is a strong probability.
Margot Robbie To Be The New Face Of Pirates Of The Caribbean; Is She Replacing Johnny Depp’s Jack Sparrow?
The word on the street is that Margot Robbie will be the star in either the reboot or spinoff of Pirates Of The Caribbean and Christina Hodson will write the new movie.
In fact, in the case of Robbie, producer Jerry Bruckheimer in May 2022, himself confirmed that the production team had been talking to the Babylon actress. Bruckheimer at the time also mentioned that the studio was developing two Pirates scripts – one with Robbie and one without.

Robbie, though, wouldn’t be replacing Jack Sparrow even if she confirms to the franchise. As mentioned the continuation of Jack Sparrow’s arc seems less likely with each passing day. That said, some alternate story might come that won’t disturb Depp’s legacy.
Furthermore, many fans and critics alike have been calling for the franchise to be let die. The last two editions On Stranger Tides and Dead Men Tell No Tales didn’t really do good critically and even before Depp vs Heard, several main cast had been showing disinterest in returning for the new sequel. So, while Jack Sparrow’s journey still seems it has to give a lot, it may have also had its swan song.
Yet at the same time, it is worth noting that the franchise is too lucrative for any production company to just roll down the curtain. The five films in total have grossed $4.5 billion at the box office. Some credible people have attested to the news of scripts being in the works. It certainly means either a sequel, reboot, or spin-off is coming one way or another. It’s the cast and release dates that are making people anxious.
Pirates Of The Caribbean Six; Will Johnny Depp Return?
Until the resolution of the Depp vs Heard case, Disney held fast to the belief that the 59-year-old actor would not be cast in any future iterations of the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise.
However, after Depp emerged victorious in the infamous defamation case, the House Of Mouse, according to multiple reports, has been trying to give one more film to the Edward Scissorhands actor.

Suffice it to say, the odds of Johnny Depp once again portraying the swashbuckling Captain Jack Sparrow have only been increasing since the 2022 defamation case.
But then again, Johnny during the case, himself declared that it was going to take a ‘million alpacas’ to get him to play Jack Sparrow once more.
However, several sources emerging in late 2022 have said that Depp will have a role but the film won’t be a continuation of the fifth movie.

What’s more some insiders have stated that “Johny is set to return as Captain Jack Sparrow.” The associates have additionally claimed that the filming will be one of Hollywood’s most secret projects in the UK and that it has been running since Feb 2023.
The project apparently is already in its initial phase and doesn’t even have a director.
The enterprise, however, has Bruce Hendricks as an Executive Producer. Adding to this a source, Hendricks once said,
All the other details are being kept under lock and key. The whole project is shrouded in secrecy and Disney want to keep everything under wraps as best they can.
Depp’s last appearance in the franchise was in the fifth movie, Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.
