Jerry Springer Cause of Death
On April 27th, 2023, the Springer family announced the heartbreaking news that the legendary radio host has passed away. According to the statement, Jerry died peacefully at his residence in suburban Chicago on Thursday, surrounded by his family and friends. He was 79 years old.

One of his family friends and spokesman Jene Galvin said,
“Jerry’s ability to connect with people was at the heart of his success in everything he tried, whether that was politics, broadcasting or just joking with people on the street who wanted a photo or a word,” Jene Galvin, a lifelong friend and spokesman for the family said. “He’s irreplaceable and his loss hurts immensely, but memories of his intellect, heart and humor will live on.”
In addition to this, the statement also revealed Jerry was battling an unknown illness for a long time. According to TMZ, Jerry was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer a couple of months ago. Tragically, his cancer took a turn for worse in the week leading up to his death.
Jerry Springer was famous for hosting a controversial TV show
As we mentioned, Springer, who has a daughter named Katie Springer, was famous for hosting Jerry Springer Show. His show was the epitome of brash and bold and this is why, it was also controversial. Before becoming a radio host, Jerry was a politician. In fact, he was the 56th mayor of Cincinnati. He served one term in 1977. Prior to this, he ran a failed U.S. Congress campaign in 1970.
Afterward, Jerry sought the Democratic Party nomination for governor of Ohio in 1982, which he eventually failed. Sometime later, Jerry decided to enter the TV world and started working as a political commentator for several TV stations like NBC’s affiliate WLWT. After mushc success, he started his own show, Jerry Springer in 1991. The show ran for over two decades and aired its final episode on September 10th, 2018.
